ROANOKE, Va., Aug. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Miss Georgia International, Amanda Moreno, 23, of Atlanta, Georgia, was crowned Miss International 2016, Saturday, July 30 at the Annual Miss International Pageant held in Jacksonville, Fla. The three-hour event, held at the Moran Theater at the Times Union Center for Performing Arts, featured more than 40 contestants from around the world competing in four categories, including interview, fitness-wear, fun fashion and evening gown.
In 2011, Moreno created True Beauty Movement (www.truebeautymovement.org) on a mission to cultivate positive body image and remarkable character in young women worldwide. Her personal battles with an eating disorder and the true definition of beauty serve as the building blocks of her organization. Additionally, she will continue partnering with the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) through her year of service to educate, advocate and fundraise for her platform.
“I have several goals this year and they all circle back to empowering young women and making a difference through the opportunities I’m presented with,” said Moreno. “This year of service is not about me, it’s about changing the definition of beauty one young woman at a time. I hope that my year is marked by service, leadership, humility and approachability.”
Moreno has several global trips scheduled to support True Beauty Movement’s work around the world, including educational workshops for youth in Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa. Professionally, Moreno is an entrepreneur and owner of a communications and image consultancy firm focused on developing other successful entrepreneurs and small businesses.
