The Halal Guys Brings 50 Jobs to Chamblee; Plans to Expand Across Atlanta area – Atlanta Small Business Journal

ATLANTA, GA—(MARCH 10, 2017) — Moynul Chowdhury brought another layer of culinary
diversity to the Buford Highway corridor with the grand opening of The Halal Guys on Jan. 28.
The Bangladesh native and Kennesaw and Georgia State graduate is the franchisee and
managing director for Georgia’s first The Halal Guys.

Opened in 1990 in the heart of NYC, The Halal Guys specializes in platters and sandwiches
stuffed with chicken, gyro or falafel. Their famous white sauce is known for creating massive
lines to get a taste of The Halal Guys, and that’s the same hype that the new location in
Chamblee at 4929 Buford Hwy has cultivated.

The restaurant brought 50 jobs to the area helping foster growth and provides valuable
opportunities to metro Atlanta residents. Chowdhury plans to open four more Halal Guys
locations around the Atlanta area in an effort to grow the brand’s cult following and provide
Atlantans the opportunity to work with an exciting brand. Chowdhury is setting his sights on
expansion to the Atlanta neighborhoods of West Midtown, Downtown, Decatur and
Cumberland. He hopes to open the next location opened by the end of 2017.

“The City of Chamblee and The Buford Highway area was the obvious first choice for The Halal
Guys due to its reputation of being an international food destination,” said Chowdhury. “We’re
excited to be a part of the growth in this area and across the city.”

The cities of Chamblee and Doraville have recently committed to a revitalization process of the
Buford Highway corridor to increase transportation safety and housing opportunities. The Halal
Guys is thrilled to be in the area and be a contributor to the planned growth for both cities.

ABOUT THE HALAL GUYS:

The Halal Guys grew from its humble beginnings as a food cart on the streets of New York City
to a global icon known as the largest American Halal street food concept in the world. This
Manhattan-based landmark was created by three like-minded men from Egypt who came to
America in search of a better life. When the founders noticed many cab drivers in New York
were looking for a place to buy meals in Manhattan, they created their first food cart and
quickly grew into a leading tourist and native New Yorker destination for American Halal fare.
In 2013, The Halal Guys were ranked the most popular food truck reviewed on FourSquare and
the third most Yelped restaurant in the United States in 2014 with more than 7,600 reviews and
a 4.5 average star rating.

The Halal Guys has been recognized by TIME Magazine, Entrepreneur Magazine, The New
York Times and The Huffington Post. For more information, visit: http://thehalalguys.com
